Restorative Dentistry in Phenix City

The right restorative procedures at the right time can reduce the need for additional dental work in the future.

With restorative dental treatments, we can restore the strength, function, appearance, and overall health to teeth that are decayed or damaged. At Complete Family Dental, we use research-backed techniques and materials with a proven track record of reliability and safety.

Our dental practice offers the following restorative dentistry services:

Implant Restorations

Dental implants are biocompatible screws or posts that are surgically implanted into the jaw to provide a stable base of support for a dental restoration.

Composite Fillings

Instead of unsightly silver fillings, we use tooth-colored composite resin to repair teeth that have sustained damage from cavities. The areas of decay are removed, then composite material is used to replace it.

Dental Crowns

When most of the tooth structure above the gum line has to be removed due to damage or decay, dental crowns are used to cover and protect the healthy structure that remains. Crowns can also be used as abutments to hold bridges in place. Our office offers CEREC technology, allowing us to complete crowns in a single visit.

Inlays and Onlays

If a tooth has more damage than can be repaired with a dental filling, but not enough damage to require a dental crown, an inlay or onlay may be just the right solution. Like crowns, these restorations are fabricated and then bonded onto the prepared tooth.

Dental Bridges

Dental bridges are used to replace missing teeth. There are a few types of bridges to choose from, but the most common involves placing crowns on neighboring teeth to serve as abutments to anchor the bridge.

Dentures

Dentures are used to replace all or most teeth on a single upper or lower arch. Unlike bridges, dentures do not need support from adjacent tooth structures. Dentures can be traditional or implant-supported, fixed or removable, and full or partial.

Frequently Asked Questions About Restorative Dentistry

Are composite fillings safe?

We only use the safest materials at Complete Family Dental. You may have heard that composite fillings contain BPA; you can rest assured that our office uses a resin material that is BPA-free.

How long do dental crowns last?

On average, a crown will last about 15 years, but this lifespan can be longer or shorter depending on your oral hygiene practices. Brush for two minutes twice a day, floss at least once a day, and visit the dentist every six months.

Are onlays better than crowns?

The answer to this question depends on the condition of your tooth. Less tooth structure needs to be removed for placing an onlay; because onlays preserve more of the natural tooth, they’re preferable to crowns. That said, if your tooth has more damage than can be repaired with an onlay, a crown is the better solution of the two.

Do dental bridges look natural?

Absolutely. Dental bridges made with high-quality materials look like your natural teeth. At Complete Family Dental, we pride ourselves on providing restorations that restore both function and appearance.

Can I get my teeth pulled and dentures in the same day?

Immediate dentures can be inserted the same day as an extraction, but these are typically considered a temporary solution.

Can you go from dentures to implants?

Many patients decide to get dental implants after years of wearing dentures. If your teeth have been missing for some time, it’s possible that you may need preliminary procedures to strengthen the jaw prior to implant placement.
