In-office teeth whitening and at-home whitening done under the guidance of a dentist are safe and effective. That said, when teeth whitening treatments are not used as directed or not approved by the American Dental Association, they can harm the teeth, eroding enamel and causing increased sensitivity.

In-office whitening treatments take under an hour to complete. At-home treatments can take a few weeks, depending on the shade of white desired.

The answer to this question is yes and no. Veneers strengthen your existing teeth and do not “ruin” them, but because a layer of enamel is removed in order to place veneers, once you decide you want veneers, there’s no going back or changing your mind—you’ll always need veneers. If they fall off or wear out, you’ll have to replace them.
