Instructions Following Neurotoxins
Botox + Xeomin

Immediate Aftercare (For the first 6 Hours)

  • Keep your head elevated: Maintain an upright position for at least 4-6 hours after treatment to prevent neurotoxin migration and blood pooling at the injection site.
  • Avoid pressure: Do not  massage, rub or put pressure on the treated area for 24 hours to prevent the neurotoxin from spreading to unintended areas.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise: Refrain from intense workouts for at least 24 hours, as increased blood flow could impact the effectiveness of the treatment.

General Aftercare

  • Gentle cleansing: Use a mild cleanser and lukewarm water to wash your face, avoiding scrubbing or rubbing the treated area for the first 24 hours.
  • Sun protection: Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher and avoid prolonged sun exposure, as it can accelerate skin aging and potentially diminish the results of the neurotoxin.
  • Avoid heat: Limit exposure to heat sources like saunas, hot tubs, and hot showers for at least 24 hours.
  • Stay hydrated: Drinking plenty of water can help with overall skin health and potentially alleviate mild headaches.
  • Avoid alcohol: Refrain from consuming alcohol for at least 24 hours before and after the treatment, as it can increase the risk of bruising and swelling.
  • Follow your practitioner's advice: Always adhere to the specific aftercare instructions provided by your practitioner, as they may have personalized recommendations based on your individual needs.

When to Resume Activities

  • Makeup: If you must, you can typically apply makeup 4-6 few hours after treatment, however- it's best to wait until any redness or swelling has subsided. Make sure that you do not massage or vigorously rub your treated areas in the first 24 hours of injection, as this may cause migration to unintended areas of the face. Always use clean makeup brushes to prevent infection.
  • Facials: Avoid facials or other skin treatments for at least two weeks after neurotoxin injections.

Possible Side Effects

  • Mild bruising and redness: These are common side effects that typically resolve within a few days.

Long-Term Care

  • Hydration and moisturization: Keep your skin well-hydrated and moisturized to maintain skin elasticity and enhance neurotoxin results.
  • Healthy lifestyle: Avoid smoking and excessive alcohol consumption, as they can negatively impact your skin's health.
