Instructions Following Hyaluronic Acid Fillers Juvederm+Revanesse

Immediate Post-Treatment Care

  • Understand results take time to settle: It is not uncommon to "freak out" during the swelling phase of filler placement, especially the first 1-3 days after treatment. Relax and remember that it will take up to 14 days for filler swelling to subside. Do not form any opinions about your fillers until after the settling period is over. You will love your final results- just be patient!
  • Avoid touching/manipulating: Do not touch, press, rub, or massage the treated areas for the first 24 hours
  • Apply cold compresses: If needed, use cold compresses for 15 minutes every few hours to reduce swelling and  bruising. However, be careful to not put pressure onto the fillers- you do not want to risk the filler migrating to unintended areas of the face.
  • Sleeping + Elevating your head: Try to sleep on your back for the first 3-4 nights post injection to help avoid filler migration to unintended areas of the face. If you are experiencing a lot of swelling, try sleeping with your head slightly elevated. If you use a sleep mask, make sure the mask is loose and not tight against your face if the strap is near treated areas. Remember, you want to avoid pressure on the treated areas.
  • Pain relief: Acetaminophen (Tylenol) can be used for discomfort; avoid NSAIDs like ibuprofen or aspirin as they may increase bleeding.
  • Makeup: Avoid makeup on the treated area for at least 24 hours, or until the next day, to prevent potential irritation or infection.

The First Few Days Post-Treatment

  • Hydration: Stay well-hydrated by drinking plenty of water, as hyaluronic acid fillers attract water, and this supports results and skin health.
  • Sleeping + Elevating your head: Try to sleep on your back for the first 3-4 nights post injection to help avoid filler migration to unintended areas of the face. If you are experiencing a lot of swelling, try sleeping with your head slightly elevated. If you use a sleep mask, make sure the mask is loose and not tight against your face if the strap is near a treated area. Remember, you want to avoid pressure on the treated areas.
  • Dietary restrictions: Avoid high-sodium foods, excessive alcohol, caffeine, and refined carbohydrates for 24-48 hours, as these can worsen swelling.
  • Activity limitations: Refrain from strenuous exercise for 24-48 hours, and avoid activities that increase heart rate or cause excessive movement in the treated area.
  • Skincare and heat: Steer clear of harsh skincare ingredients (retinoids, acids) for at least a week. Avoid intense heat exposure, including saunas, hot tubs, and very hot showers for a week.

Longer-Term Considerations

  • Swelling and filler settling time: Dermal fillers typically take 10-14 days to settle and fully integrate, though this can vary. All swelling should subside within 14 days.
  • Further treatments: Wait at least two weeks before any future enhancements, skin care treatments, or laser treatments to allow the filler to settle and avoid potential complications.
  • Sun exposure: Avoid sunbathing and sunbeds for at least a week to minimize the risk of hyperpigmentation.
